Helping you find breakthroughs in your life.
Randy Lennon
Randy Lennon is a 30 year entrepreneur who has founded and built successful enterprises in the fields of newspaper publishing, television and radio, recording artist management, retail, advertising and marketing, and the Internet. Randy has also worked as a police officer, regional television and national radio talk show host, starred in a situation comedy pilot, and worked as a special advisor to the leader of a major national political party in Ottawa. His recording artists have won US Gold and Platinum Albums as well as the Juno Award in Canada. He has been a sought after consultant to a variety of other companies that range from professional sports teams to one of Canada's pioneer online grocery delivery services.
Founder of the Spruce Grove Examiner newspaper at age 19, Randy built the company to a chain of four weekly newspapers serving the Edmonton market. The Examiner newspapers are to this day a successful operation now owned by Quebecor.
As Chairman of the Privatization Committee of the board of directors of Access Television network, Randy oversaw the first successful privatization of a public television broadcaster in North America.
His crowning achievement in the area of serving others was the development of “The Biz Brainstorm” workshop and radio show series that resulted in breakthroughs for more than 120 Vancouver area entrepreneurs. The Biz Brainstorm garnered Randy back-to-back nominations for the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Randy’s biggest passion is sharing “The Questions Experience”, which has evolved as the direct result of his own inner journey of personal development. Over the past 15 years Randy has recruited hundreds of people and participated in dozens of transformational workshops in Alberta, BC, Ontario, California, Colorado and Washington State. He has been a featured speaker and trainer to groups as large as 5,000 in six Canadian provinces and three US states.
Randy Lennon spent 16 months as an executive with The Calgary Flames, arriving from Vancouver a few weeks after Darryl Sutter. He was part of one of the most amazing breakthroughs in NHL history. On the ice the team went from seven years out of the playoffs to Western Conference Champions in one season. On the business side the team went from heavy losses to significant profitability over that 16 month period.
Currently, Randy is a managing director with Calgary and Vancouver based Meridian Merchant Capital Canada, providing capital and corporate finance advisory services to mid-market western Canadian companies.
Ruth Draper
Ruth Draper comes to The Breakthrough Company after her research revealed a significant increase in Employee salaries and benefits in the many companies she has worked with; yet a staggering decline in loyalty. “We’ve created an atmosphere where money, compensation and benefits are defining who people are. It’s not until we start getting back to caring about people’s welfare and life in the workplace that we can start creating a loyal, dedicated, work environment where people feel valued, not just compensated.”
In her early 20’s Ruth felt a pull to the travel industry and was an integral part of a family run business doing everything from reservations, touring people around California and Nevada, to writing brochures for new and interesting destinations. The owner approached Ruth to take over the business in its entirety, citing her love of the company, love of people and her contribution to its success the deciding factors. Ruth bought the company and was a recognized player in the Tour market for many years. Ruth sold the travel agency in pursuit of a new opportunity in Calgary.
Ruth was asked to join a small (less than 100 nationally) company, in the relatively unknown world of “Relocations”- a global work mobility group that catered to most of the large Corporations in Canada. Ruth was promoted 6 times in the first 5 years, faster and more often than anyone before or since. Her passion for a superior level of customer service, cohesive team work and policy development made her a recognized, admired member of the Company which grew in short order to 450 nationally. Not one to sit on her laurels, Ruth started Epics Consulting and won a contract to develop, produce and facilitate “Supervisory Skills” for newly appointed project managers at SNC Lavelin. The successful course was held in Calgary and Edmonton. Ruth developed a love of writing and continues to write copy for several high profile clients and their web sites.
